Nearly 60 tablet devices have gone to well worth causes in the communities where we work this Christmas as part of GMI Construction Group’s festive gifting operation.
An idea from our Technology Department to refurbish and repurpose a combination of Apple and Samsung tablets that came in from our site teams, as we upgrade our assets, have put smiles on the faces of scores of youngsters in the North West, Midlands and Yorkshire regions.
Thanks to GMI, hundreds of young people now have access to tablets that will help them communicate and learn – transforming their classroom experience.
Social value and giving back to the communities where we work is at the very heart of our business and two schools in the North West (Kirkby Church of England Primary) and Midlands (Chilwell Croft Academy), as well as Martin House Hospice (Yorkshire), have all benefitted this Christmas.
Thomas West, GMI Technology Director, said: “We are pleased we could provide the tablets and bring the project together at this time of year and at a moment when technology could be absolutely vital to young people’s learning.
“We are also grateful for the support of a supplier for offering new chargers to accompany the devices. We wanted brand new chargers to match devices. Full credit goes to our operational colleagues, who have looked after them and kept the tablets inside a case. It’s due to that care that we have gifted not just this school, but two other similar organisations as well. A big thank you goes to them.”
