GMI complete hat trick of hotels

GMI Construction Group has completed a hat trick of hotels in Leeds City Centre.

Dakota Deluxe Leeds was successfully handed over to client Evans Property Group and is due to open on 1st May. Working to an 18 month programme, the 10 storey, 84 bedroom luxury hotel forms part of Evans’ £25 million pound investment plans for the Bond Court area of Leeds.

Works have also recently been completed on the Premier Inn Whitehall Road and Ibis Styles Leeds City Centre Arena both for GMI’s long-standing client Town Centre Securities.

The nine storey, 136 bed Premier Inn Whitehall Road is now in operation.

Ibis Styles is a 134 bed hotel which includes a 4,000 sq ft. Marco’s New York Italian Restaurant and Bar and opened to guests on 10th April.

Jerome Gibrat, Integration and Brand Compliance Manager for Franchise AccorHotels UK & Ireland said “Following the pre-opening visit to Ibis Styles Leeds City Centre Arena today we were very pleased and impressed with the hotel, the quality of the finishes is fantastic.”

Andy Bruce, Managing Director of GMI Construction, said:
“We are delighted to have completed works on three major hotel schemes in Leeds City Centre, which complement our already strong portfolio of hotel and leisure projects.

These projects have allowed us to employ local tradespeople and local suppliers and to deliver training, work experience and apprenticeships to the region’s future workforce. As a local contractor, we pride ourselves in ensuring the communities in which we work benefit from our construction projects.”
